Our Aim - Making independent learners and developing a love for learning!
Our grown ups in Reception are;
Miss Alexander – Class Teacher
Kerry and Lynley – Learning Support Assistant
We also work with other grown ups in our Challenge Zone including; Debbie, Jacqui, Nicola, Alice our Learning Support Assistants and also Mrs Afsar – our Bilingual Teaching Assistant.
Our Reception Class takes 30 children and we anticipate being a full class again this year.
Our aim in Reception is to build on children’s previous learning experiences and continue to develop independence. Over the course of the Reception year children will become independent learners. There will still be practical learning activities and the children will use the outdoor area for learning. Our children also have opportunities to use our Challenge Zone, this is an area shared with Year One and Two. It gives opportunities to develop pupil choice in planning learning activities, develop independence, be creative in their learning and learn from other pupils.
You will receive newsletters to update you on what topics and learning we are covering and in the Autumn and Spring terms you will be able to come into school to discuss your child’s progress. There will also be opportunities to come into school to see a class assembly, find out what we’ve done in project weeks and attend workshops to find out more about how you can support your child’s learning at home.
We look forward to working with you. If you have any questions or concerns at any time and need to speak to a member of staff please ask at hand over time and we can arrange a convenient time.
