Hi year 4 I hope that you all had a restful and happy half term. We are on our final half term of year 4 and it's such a shame that we are not sharing it all together, it's been great fun this year!! Anyway we are going to start our first week working on a local mapping project to help Cardiff Council to improve our experience of coming to school. Find out more in the grid below. I'm really looking forward to seeing your efforts. This is a whole school, whole of Cardiff project and your ideas count. Come on year 4 let's do this!!!
Hi Year 4, I hope that you have all had a restful and happy Easter Holiday. Please see below for the second Home Learning Grid. Remember each grid is for 2 weeks. If you're looking for extra work, don't forget there are activities on seesaw and you can roam on Espresso. Please note the activity sheets for your activities are saved below the grid under subject headings . It has been lovely to see so many of you have been working hard on school activities and other activities at home. Remember to keep uploading your work to seesaw as it's a great way of keeping in touch with you .
Hi year 4, join me on Flipgrid today. It's a great way to send videos to all our friends in the class. It is safe and secure and only our class can view the content. See the attachment on how to join below. You log into hwb and then it's really easy!! I've left a message for you all, I wonder who will be the first person to reply and leave a message for our class. Tell us or show us what you've been up to. 10 house points for the first 5. I can't wait to see you all. Bye, stay safe Mrs Parry

What does it mean to be green?
Our new Enquiry for this term is "What does it mean to be Green?". We have used pupil voice to find out what we want to learn. We have so many questions!!! Here are just a few
What is a carbon or global footprint?
What is my global footprint?
What can I do to reduce my carbon footprint?
What happens to our waste?
What are the 3R's
How does my litter affect you?
How Green is our Supermarket?
We will be finding out the answer to many of our questions this term in an exciting cross-curricular way. Using our science and technology skills to find out about the water cycle, using our humanities skills to find out about the similarities and differences about water across the world and its usage. We will be measuring and recording rainfall and recording our information in different ways. So many exciting tasks for us to explore!!
Maths
You can never over practise your tables so please keep it up!
There are lots of online maths games you can play
This year the children will also continue to follow the Abacus maths scheme and will be set regular homework from the Active Learn website. Please try to encourage your child to complete their allocated tasks, as it reinforces work carried out in the classroom. The site is tablet and phone compatible.
Please remember to practice and learn those learn its for our Big Maths tests on Friday morning!
Reading
The children bring home their reading books everyday and we ask that they read at home to an adult. Their reading books must be brought into school everyday as the children have many opportunities to read. The children will have various reading experiences throughout the week, including a Guided Group Reading session. In school we focus a great deal on understanding the content of what is being read, asking a variety of questions about the content, in order to ensure they gain a full understanding of the plot, characters and themes. Please ask the children questions about their books to ensure they have understood what they have read.
P.E.
PE is every Thursday and Games on Friday afternoon. Please ensure all children bring in suitable clothing and appropriate footwear, i.e. trainers, for indoor and outdoor PE and Games activities. This may include T-shirts, shorts, leggings, jogging bottoms and a warm top. All jewellery must be removed for PE lessons, without exception.
