Year 4 took a coach trip back in time to the Stuart period recently, when we visited Llancaiach Fawr Manor House, in Nelson, Nr. Caerphilly. The trip was linked to the Tudor history topic studied by the class; the Stuart period following this after Queen Elizabeth I had died.
The children were shown around the residence of Colonel Pritchard, by his loyal servant, Stephen Mathias. They looked at how the Stuart gentry lived, what they ate, how they entertained themselves and the weapons they used to protect the house during the time of the Civil War.
A most enjoyable trip which the children have talked about non-stop since.
